Teaching Intolerance, It's in Your School School Superintendent Starr disparages & discriminates against PFOX educational ex-gay flyer On February 7, 2012, Dr. Joshua P. Starr, superintendent of Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), met with students in a student town hall meeting at Wootton High School to answer their questions and hear their perspectives on MCPS. In this segment, the student moderator asks Starr about the PFOX flier that was distributed at the school to help educate students about the origins of homosexuality and the choices students can make if they are attracted to their same gender. Greg Quinlan is the president of PFOX--Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays & Gays (PFOX). It's a national non-profit organization that supports families, advocates for the ex-gay community, and educates. Quinlan argues that ex-gays should be considered a 'protected' class against hate crimes. He also says that persons who are gay can change to become straight--which is derived in large part from his own experience in doing just that. |

PFOX hosted a booth at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Feb. 2009, providing resources and spreading the good news that no one is born a homosexual and that change is possible. PFOX volunteer Doug McIntyre (and National Director of Homosexuals Anonymous, a Christian Fellowship of men and women who have chosen to help each other live free from homosexuality), shares his testimony as a converted homosexual and his belief that homosexuality is a result of troubled upbringing. |
